Our Royal Flush

The Royal Toowoomba Agricultural Show dates back to 1860. As I'm sure you'd appreciate it is a huge honour for us to be invited to such a prestigious show with such a history dating back to the origins of the State of Queensland that began in 1859 with its separation from New South Wales. The Darling Downs Royal Agricultural Society preceded its Brisbane counterpart by 15 years.

Humbling and Daunting

With 150 years of history, and 52,000 visitors this year over the three days we are VERY excited to announce our results later this week for the 2010 Heritage Royal Toowoomba Show. The history of Miniature Goats only goes back just over ten years and we've only displayed publicly as a breed for four years. This is our second showing at Toowoomba as a breed and stud, and to be invited back with such a fledgling breed of animal against such a history is humbling and daunting to say the least.

Hold Your Breath...

Not included in the list is our special little Flea who is a 6 month old doe that stands at 44 cm's and this was her first show. Little Flea has done it tough as she was ear tagged and clipped AND it was her first trip in a car. Poor little bugger. She's a sweetheart and we're stoked she got Second, 6 - 12 months. Little Smudge, also around 44 cm's, is a 6 month black Doe who's gorgeous, but unfortunately didn't place. Bumblebee is another little 5 month Doe at the same height and she received Third, 6 months and under Doe.

So here we go.

Flame is the senior member of our show team and sporting her new look of being clipped. Yes, we were worried. haha. Flame was VERY successful last year with top wins at many shows, but with such stiff competition and quality animals being shown from other studs there are never any guarantees. I'm sure you can appreciate our excitement when Flame won SUPREME Miniature Goat of Show. Flame is a genuine Miniature Goat as she is 6 years old and has finished growing. Flame also received Champion Miniature Doe, and First, Five Years and Over Miniature Doe to add to her many accomplishments.

We're very proud of Flame for having picked up the highest accolades at the 150th Heritage Royal Toowoomba Show for 2010

Jitterbug, along with Flame, is also one of our tried and tested show animals and has given us much success with showing. We are very proud to have her in our paddock. She is Tracy's deservedly 'special' animal as she has been part of the Pikamini Show team from the start and has tolerated our stupidity of early mornings and long days countless times. So this is another special moment for us as Jit received First, Doe 2 - 3 Years Old, and Champion Miniature Bred Junior Doe. We're stoked for Jitterbug.

Jitterbug got her name from actually doing the Jitterbug with Tracy ... yeah, I know. We need to do a video of it.

Comet is our youngest doe in this line up and this was her first show. Comet stands at 47 cm's. This was a big moment for us and Comet having her in the ring for the first time. She picked up First, Classic Pixie Head, Second, under 6 months Miniature Bred Doe, and Reserve Champion Miniature Bred Doe Kid. We're VERY proud of little Comet.

Above is little Spook. Spook is just 6 months old and stands at only 45 cm's. We're stoked to have him as the Champion Miniature Bred Buck Kid for the 150th Heritage Royal Toowoomba Show for 2010.

Little Chino is also only 5 months old and stands smaller than Spook at just 44 cm's. Obviously we're ecstatic to have Chino pick up the Reserve Miniature Bred Buck Kid for the 150th Heritage Royal Toowoomba Show for 2010.

Especially for the Royal Toowoomba we decided to give one of our Wethers a run. Wethers are usually sold as grass eater pets. Little Doc is only 46cm's at 6 months old. Doc has a wonderful personality and it is a REAL pleasure to be around such a little gentleman. We're VERY excited as a bonus to have Doc receive his very first Champion Miniature Bred Wether Kid.

-------| SPECIAL MENTION |-------

We can't let this one go without special mention to a member of our team that is definitely not unappreciated but usually his efforts get passed over from your point of view. Without his tireless work behind the scenes none of our photos could be possible.....or at least, be AS possible. This member of our team sits strategically usually to my right to get the attention of the goats for the photos.

Thank you, Scaredy Cat.
